Weeping and Gnashing of Teeth

I have to admit, being a toy designer is a pretty sweet gig. I'm constantly adding new works of art to my portfolio, the groupies are a great perk, and they pay me in ribs. For the past two years I have been very happy camper...although...every once in a while there comes a project that makes even the burliest man (like myself) flee in terror.

Yes, that image is correct. I, Dennis, World Class Manly Man, was forced against my will to sketch, sculpt, and render a My Little Pony character.

::SHOCKING AWE AND DISBELIEF!!!::

Now I'll admit, when I wasn't trying to lodge a pencil into my frontal lobe, some of these images actually turned out pretty good.

Despite the quality of these images, a six hour long shower of barbecue sauce and motor oil was required after completion.

I have found that in certain times, if you get a project that does make you want to reach for the nearest pencil and gorge your eyes out. That 1.hide all sharp objects 2.Drink copious amounts of alcohol to forget where you hide those objects 3.Remember that my little pony will bring joy to all little girls hearts 4.If run out of drink, move onto mouth wash and have a menthol night :O) x

That's a killer job! and a beautiful, cute little pony..
Dang, it must be so cool to see something you drew come to life like that! even if you didn't design it..

SJ - Good advice on the mouth wash. This rubbing alcohol I've been swilling isn't exactly giving me the buzz I wanted.

Ken- Thanks man ;). You tried getting a job with Hasbro? You'd be right up the road from me!

Lester- I may have embellished a bit on my job...I don't get to keep nearly as much as I'd like for my portfolio :(. Everything else is true.

Just wait till I get some of my own characters into 3D. You're gonna see some serious shit 8-).

Dude! These are actually super cute. must have been hard to draw with a pencil stuck in your brain. Makes them that much better!

HA - I was just kidding - kinda. I work with Hasbro a lot, but they (Boys) don't seem to want to share me with Girls development...I'd love to do some Little Pet Shops, MLP, etc.

Just robots and army guys for now...!

First of all, this is my first time seeing the changes you've made to this place and it looks great.

And second, that pony sculpture you've done is freakishly cute and very well done.

Third.. uh.. funnily enough, its like.. 95% likely that I'm going to be working on the CARTOON MLP in the near future. Actually, quite a few folks who worked on the Eds have had a hand in it. The ponies are consuming us allllll!!!

Justin - It was only an attempt. Hopefully next time I'll succeed :D.

TJ - There will be much more 3D coming...at least I hope...

Thanks Raven! Figured it was bout that time to get off my ass and make this blog halfway decent looking :p.

Yea I was telling Ms. Alberghetti on deviantart I actually looked at her blog for inspiration cause I saw she was doing a lot of character sketches for the show. Hasbro's got all those new designs plastered over the MLP section of their website and Hasbro HQ so I figured it's best to stick to the current style if that's what they're moving forward with.

If you guys have a hand in this show I'm definitely going to have to watch it!
